Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was asked on Thursday morning about the pain of losing to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII four years ago, and he said what?s really painful isn?t losing the Super Bowl, it?s losing the last game of any season.
?Every loss hurts,? Brady said. ?That one hurt, we lost to the Colts in the AFC Championship Game, that one hurt too. Last year losing to the Jets ? all these playoff losses, you see those teams advance and you?re sitting home, they all suck.?
Brady noted that NFL teams change dramatically every year (only seven players remain from that Super Bowl XLII loss) and that inside the locker room what?s most difficult is knowing that this is the last time he?ll play with many of his current teammates.
?It?s our last opportunity to be together with this team,? Brady said. ?You?re not going to see each other after Monday so you just enjoy the experience with those guys and hopefully we have a lot of reasons to celebrate on Sunday night.?
The Patriots, from Bill Belichick on down, have seemed chipper and happy to be here all week, and Brady said they?ve been enjoying themselves.
?It?s been a fun week,? Brady said. ?Not being back here in four years, you really enjoy the experience and there?s been a lot of fun aspects of the week.?
But all those fun aspects of the week will vanish if the Patriots lose on Sunday.
